How to Repair a Hole in a Textured Wall

We all know accidents happen but there is nothing worse than knocking a hole in the wall. Whether the doorknob swung into the wall or your mis judged the size of that piece of furniture going down the hallway. Don’t sweat it, DIYG is here to help!

 

In this tutorial we are going to walk you through the steps of how to fix a hole in a textured wall.  We will show you the materials you need and take you step-by-step through the process. Not matter if it is a small hole or a large hole, this hole in the wall repair will do the trick.

We will show you what to use to repair the hole as well as help you estimate the cost of the fix.

Here is What you will need:

  • Wall Patch
  • Spackling
  • Spatula
  • Sandpaper
  • Textured Sponge
  • paint

You can find these items in any local home improvement store. At the bottom of this article we have provided some links to make locating these items easier.

Or you can follow the step-by-step instructions below.

Step 1

  • Get your material ready!
  • Take your wall patch and cut so that it is slightly larger than the hole

Make sure the area of the wall is cleaned and dry for application

Step 2

  • Apply spackling to your wall patch and firmly press it onto the wall where the hole is
  • Apply spackling onto wall patch with your spatula ( start from the center and work your way out)
  • Let spackling dry

Step 3

  • Once your first layer of spackling is dry, go ahead and sand the wall
  • Apply a second layer of spackling using your spatula

Step 4

  • Before your second layer of spackling dries, take your texture sponge and blot the smooth coat to desired texture
  • Allow textured spackling to dry for 5 minutes
  • Lightly brush the spackling with your spatula (it is important to brush lightly so that you keep your texture on the wall)

Step 5

  • Get your Once your spackling has dried completely, the wall is ready to be painted! ready!
  • Make sure you apply the same color of paint as the surrounding wall

Wala! Your hole is gone.
