Our DIYG video this week is perfect to help keep that closet in tip top shape as well as a great gift for dad!

No matter what size your closet, it can be a struggle at times to keep it organized. With so many belts, ties and accessories it is easy to lose track of what you have.  It can be overwhelming or even frustrating trying find that favorite tie or that perfect belt that looks great with everything.

In this tutorial we are going to show you how to make a tie/belt holder. Perfect for organization, this simple project will help to tidy up those, not so easy, to organize items.

Let’s get started!

Here is What you will need:

Materials:

Tools:

You can find these items in any local home improvement store. At the bottom of this article we have provided some links to make locating these items easier.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to start building.

Step 1

DIYG Tip:  Put a piece of Frog tape around the wood where you are going to cut so that wood doesn’t fray

Step 2: Sand and wipe boards

Step 3:

Step 4: Mark peg holes

Step 5: Predrill peg holes for the wooden dowel pins.

DIYG Tip:  To help ensure you do not drill the holes too deep, take Frog Tape and mark the drill bit at the ½” mark.  This will be a guide when drilling to not go past the Frog Tape.

Step 6: Attach top board to tie rack

DIYG Tip: If you have a Pocket Hole Jig, you can use that so screws will not show.  Drill 4 pocket holes on the BACKSIDE of the tie rack board and insert the four, 2” screws.

Step 7: Attach 2 saw tooth hangers to the back.

Step 8: Insert wooden tie pegs into holes and allow to dry

DIYG Tip: Use a wood mallet or cover pegs with a soft cloth so the hammer doesn’t damage the wooden pegs

DIYG Tip: use a ruler or paint stick to line up the wood pegs so they are level.

Step 9: Polyurethane shelf and let dry

Hang tie rack and enjoy!

Listed below are the supplies we used in this tutorial.
