There is no better way to present that perfect cake than with the perfect cake stand. In the Victorian era cake stands were used to impress at that afternoon teatime. Elevating the offered desserts make for a striking centerpiece. 

Today it is used in the same way. Perfect for birthdays, anniversary celebrations or any get together, these cake stands allowed that cake to be the center of attention. 

The first cake stands were commonly made from ceramics and gradually transitioned into glass and metal materials. The original shape for cake stands were round but, in the late 1930s, the cake stand design could be found in square, hexagonal or octagonal shapes also. 

Today the mainstream shape of cake stands are round, but there are many artistic stands to choose from that vary in shape, size, and style. 

The cake stand that we are building in this article will be a round wooden cake stand. This style is sure to fit in any home. And you can personalize your cake stand to be more rustic, country, or modern with a simple variation of paint or addition of a graphic stencil.
